Inspiring Students,
Protecting the
Planet

STEAM4SUSTAIN is committed to inspiring students and teachers to take action for a healthier planet. Through hands-on STEAM learning, we explore environmental challenges like air pollution, biodiversity loss, and forest protection. By connecting schools, communities, and local organisations, we turn learning into meaningful, real-world action.

Our partnership

The partnership was formed to bring together important actors that can help enhance the use of STEM education towards addressing socio-scientific issues and environmental sustainability. The partnership is comprised of one less experienced environmental organisation (ORGANOSI GI), a second less experienced organisation that has extensive experience in STEM education (INQUIRIUM) and an experienced organisation in EU project management (RESET). Additionally, the partnership is comprised of two primary schools, namely, PELENDRI PRIMARY SCHOOL (Cyprus) and 4th Primary School of Kamatero "Dimitrios Nanopoulos" (Greece) who will be directly involved in the staging and implementation of STEAM4SUSTAIN. The Associate partners are the CYPRUS CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH AND EDUCATION.

Objectives

Five objectives, one mission

The project is structured around five objectives that connect curriculum design, teacher capacity, community partnership, inclusion, and EU-wide dissemination.

O1

To develop primary school students' key competences in understanding and addressing socio-scientific issues through the creation of innovative interdisciplinary learning materials, structured around critical environmental challenges.

O2

To produce a comprehensive teacher guidebook that enhances teachers' competences to teach socio-scientific issues in real-classroom settings, through STEAM approaches.

O3

To establish partnerships between schools, environmental organisations, and local communities, facilitating experiential learning opportunities that deepen students' understanding of environmental challenges.

O4

To promote inclusivity by engaging students from diverse backgrounds, with special emphasis on underrepresented groups and rural areas and girls' participation in STEAM fields.

O5

Facilitate the widespread dissemination and sustainability of resources and innovative pedagogical approaches to the wider EU community and internationally.
